“I’m late. I’m late. To a very important date!”
This morning, I read a post in a Facebook group where someone thought their vacation was off to a bad start...
It had taken their transportation services over 40 minutes to get their luggage...
They were at the very beginning of their Disney World Vacation...
From the outside looking in, it was easy to give the response, "It's good practice. You will be waiting a lot this week." With the gentle, "hugs! And lots of love!"
But then, I've kind of been thinking about this all day...
We want vacations to be perfect. I mean, have you seen a Disney World commercial? What they sell you, is perfection.
I remember the ones from my childhood. I believed Mickey Mouse would take me by the hand and lead me to ride Dumbo together.
It's so easy to say, "It's only the beginning of your vacation... don't ruin it by setting such high expectations." When you have NO IDEA what this person has invested in their trip.
Some people spend a lifetime worth of savings on these trips and will only get to go once. So, if they feel like everything is falling apart at the beginning, that can be very scary.
And if this was a first-time trip, then they really have nothing to compare it to, other than a perfect Disney Advertisement.
And HERE is where I think it would be very valuable to have a travel agent (like me)!
There is SO MUCH that goes to planning a smooth Disney Vacation.
And even when things don't go smooth... it helps to have someone you can ask "is this normal?" Or who can assure you, that first days have lots of hiccups, and that's why we planned for it to be a resort pool day, or something super flexible.
And omg, do I ever know about all the dilemmas that could happen at Disney! I worked there in many roles, including Guest Relations..
plus... HELLO, I have been there MANY times with my own children….
My children, when they were much younger, causing all the chaos, and making my Disney Day Magical.
I am here for you to help you plan your travel; to be present so you can focus on your family (and yourself) .... and I am here to help you breathe through the little "not so perfect" moments...
I will do my best to make sure we are planning a trip where the true magic is your family enjoying time together.
